Because of the sanctions most people overlook North
Cyprus as a holiday destination and as a result Northern Cyprus is
non-commercialised and safe making it, in fact, a perfect destination
for those who want a quiet unspoilt holiday.
There
is no reason why you should not to travel to Northern Cyprus and, with regular
flights from UK to Northern Cyprus, it is easy to get to.
Most people choose to travel to North Cyprus on Pegasus because their flights are through flights i.e. you do not have
to change aircraft in Turkey. They have flights every day from
Stansted and on Wednesdays from Manchester Airport. Prices start
reasonable but, like most airlines, the prices increase as the
flight gets fuller, so it is a good idea to book early Just
phone 01689 829911 during office hours and you will be given
times, prices and availability.
Should the price by the time you book, be a bit steep you
have a couple alternatives. 1) Turkish Airlines operate
flights from Heathrow, Stansted, Birmingham, Manchester and
Dublin to Istanbul where you can catch a connecting flight to
Ercan (North Cyprus). Through fares are quoted although,
like Pegasus, prices tend to get dearer as the travel date gets
nearer. 2) Fly to Larnaca in South Cyprus. There are several
airlines operate from the UK including British Airways, Cyprus
Airways, EasyJet and charter airlines such as Monarch, Tui and
Thomas Cook. Travelling this way has a couple of other advantages
(a) flights are often non-stop (b) You may well be able to catch
a flight from your local airport. The disadvantages are
you have to cross an international border between two countries
that have an uneasy truce and you have an hours taxi ride to
Kyrenia which will cost about £50 |
